BOYS PREP BASKETBALL Chaney rallies in fourth quarter to beat Wilson



Tomlin scored 20 points to lead Cowboys past City Series rival Redmen.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Chaney High outscored Woodrow Wilson 23-16 in the final quarter to post a 72-67 victory over the Redmen in a City Series boys basketball game Tuesday night.
Jeremy Tomlin paced the Cowboys (2-10, 2-2 City) with 20 points. Antonio Fitzgerald added 17 points and Dominique Peka 15. Glenn Brown had 10 rebounds for Chaney; Kory Jackson finished with eight assists and four steals.
Wilson (2-12, 1-4) was led by Bert Pritchard, with 21 points. Justin Maxwell added 15, and Derrick Maddox scored 12. William Johnson had 10 points and six rebounds.
Sebring 69, Rayen 55
SEBRING -- Joe James was 8-for-12 on 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 26 points to lead Sebring.
The Trojans, ranked third in this week's Division IV state poll, improved to 11-1 overall. Dan Scarpitti scored 17 points for Sebring. Matt Ferguson and Joe Amabeli added 10 apiece.
Deon Elliot and Odell Eargle each scored 12 points for Rayen (5-7), which trailed by 13 points (36-23) at halftime but rallied to 48-42 after three quarters. Dominic Crosby finished with 11 points for the Tigers.
Fitch 58, Lakeside 32
ASHTABULA -- James Wallace scored 22 points and Stas Cherney added 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead Fitch in a non-conference game.
Nigel Taylor finished with six points, six assists and five steals for the Falcons (8-4), who led 24-17 at halftime.
Stavros Mermis had 11 points for Lakeside (3-8).
Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary 92,Mooney 52
YOUNGSTOWN -- The top-ranked team in Div. II came to town, bolting from a 38-23 halftime lead.
Marcus Johnson scored 38 points for the Irish (12-1), who outscored Mooney 32-13 in the third quarter.
Lawrence Wilson added 22 points for SVSM, and Tremain Danzy scored 11.
Mooney (2-10) was led by Tony Brunetti with 18 and Jaron Howell with 13.
Salem 66, Struthers 51
SALEM -- Tommy Jesko scored 24 points on 9-of-14 shooting to lead Salem.
Jesko also had five assists for the Quakers (4-7, 2-4 Metro Athletic Conference). Tyler Pierce added 12 points and nine rebounds.
Struthers (3-8, 0-6) was led by Dave Mathews, who finished with 18 points. Mike Duponty added 12 points, and Jim Sodeman had 11 points and four rebounds.
Lowellville 67, Youngstown Christian 45
YOUNGSTOWN -- Lowellville jumped out to leads of 20-13 after the first quarter and 39-24 at halftime in a non-conference game.
Mario Nero led the Rockets with 21 points, and John Wilaj added 19 points and Ed Barone 10.
Youngstown Christian (5-7) was led by Dominic Vitullo, who scored 14 points. Aaron Agresta scored 11.
Wellsville 70, East Palestine 50
WELLSVILLE -- Jason Carter scored 19 points, leading Wellsville in a non-conference game.
Bill McNichol added 16 points for the Tigers (12-1), who led 34-25 at halftime.
East Palestine (2-11) was led by Brett Young, who scored 23 points.
Other games
In the Metro Athletic Conference, Niles defeated Howland, 69-54, and Alliance defeated Canfield, 64-48. Details of these games were not reported.
