Struggling Penguins still search for right answers

Youngstown State may find relief against IPFW.
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Youngstown State men's basketball team tries to snap a six-game losing streak today in a non-league game at IPFW. Tipoff at the Memorial Coliseum is set for 3:30 p.m.
The Penguins are 3-12 following a 65-42 loss to Wisconsin-Milwaukee on Wednesday.
YSU scored a season-low against UWM and had just one player, Brian Radakovich, score in double figures.
Quin Humphrey, who came into the game averaging more than 15 points per game, but was held to four by the Panthers, had his double-figure scoring streak snapped at 14.
Hard times at IPFW
The Mastodons (3-13) have also had a tough week, replacing coach Doug Noll on Wednesday. Associate head coach Joe Pechota is the interim coach until the end of the season. IPFW, coming off a 100-59 loss at Wyoming on Monday, has lost eight straight.
IPFW, a Division I Independent, has played a schedule that has included games at Notre Dame, UTEP, Butler, Bowling Green, Xavier (Ohio) and Marquette.
The Mastodons have played well at home, defeating Grand Valley State and Utah State.
Outside of an 18-point loss to Air Force, the Mastodons lost by two points to UT-Martin, three in overtime to Maine and five to Middle Tennessee State at home.
YSU is shooting 40.1 percent and IPFW 38.1 percent from the field. Each team is shooting 31.8 percent from behind the 3-point line.
From the free throw line, the Penguins hold a slight edge, making 63.1 percent to 62.6 percent for IPFW.
