Liberty rallies in 2nd half



CHAMPION -- Edward Kershaw scored 24 points and Mychal Doblanski added 19 for Liberty High, which defeated Champion 76-68 in a Trumbull Athletic Conference boys basketball game Friday night.
John Humphrey added 14 points for the Leopards (7-3, 4-0 TAC), who trailed 32-21 at halftime but outscored the Golden Flashes 54-36 in the second half.
Jake Gross scored 26 points for Champion (3-7, 0-4), and Tyler Kish added 18.
Newton Falls 57, Brookfield 43
NEWTON FALLS -- Troy Balint scored the first eight points of the fourth quarter as the host pulled away from a 37-all tie after three quarters.
Chad Rankin led Newton Falls (5-5, 2-2 TAC) with 17 points, Eric Medallin had 14 and Balint finished with 12.
Brookfield's Keith Flynn scored 12 points.
Lakeview 60, Girard 39
GIRARD -- Dustin Opalka and Eddie Mackiewicz scored 10 points each to lead Lakeview (8-2, 3-1 TAC).
Girard (3-7, 2-2) was led by Nick Cretella with 14 points, and Eric Stevens with 13.
Farrell 73, Neshannock 38
NEW CASTLE -- Ramone Williams led the Steelers with 16 points.
Bobby Wright added 14, and Chris Blue, Domonique Blackwell and Josh DeCarmen each scored 10 as Farrell (11-3, 5-0) remained unbeaten in Class AA, Section 2.
Mike Kobel led Neshannock (8-8, 2-5) with 12 points and Brandon Ryan added 11.
Greenville 61,Kennedy Catholic 59
HERMITAGE -- Kennedy Catholic held the ball the last 30 seconds but missed a potential game-winning 3-point attempt.
Blair Rozenblad scored 19 of his 22 points in the first half as Catholic took a 34-30 halftime lead. David Jackson had 15 points and Shamus Reimold added 12 for the Golden Flashes (9-3).
Greenville outscored the hosts 14-8 in the fourth quarter.
Shenango 59, Riverside 53
NEW CASTLE -- Steve McNees scored 10 of his 14 points in the fourth quarter to help Shenango hold on for a Section 2 AA win.
Shenango (13-2, 5-2) led by 14 points entering the final quarter before Riverside rallied to pull within three.
Shawn DeJohn led the Wildcats with 15 points and 12 rebounds, McNees finished with 14 points and Ryan Grafton added 13. Shenango held a 40-31 edge in boards.
Joe Deet led Riverside (8-8, 3-4) with 17 points and Josh McCanna had 15.
