LIBERTY
Jan. 5
Theft: A Hubbard woman noticed someone had removed $1,600 from her account at Charter One Bank, 4333 Belmont Ave.
Theft: An employee of the Liberty Local School District, 4115 Shady Road, discovered five unauthorized charges totaling $818 when he checked the account set up at National City Bank, 4999 Belmont Ave. The transactions had been made in Michigan.
Theft: After a Hubbard woman discovered her credit card had been stolen, she reported receiving a bill from Seven Seventeen Credit Union, 4001 Logan Way, that contained two suspicious charges totaling about $48.
Drugs: After pulling over a car near Gypsy Lane for traveling 70 mph and going left of center, police arrested a 30-year-old Warren woman on charges of drug possession (heroin), possession of drug-abuse instruments and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police say they found 60 pills, four hypodermic syringes, a suspected crack pipe and other suspected drug paraphernalia, and that she admitted having a heroin addiction.
Arrest: After his vehicle was stopped for various traffic offenses, police arrested an 18-year-old Youngstown man near Green Acres and Colonial drives. He faced charges of disorderly conduct, menacing, possession of drugs (marijuana) and possession of drug paraphernalia after police say they found 23 plastic bags, some of which contained suspected marijuana.
Jan. 6
Theft: Police arrested a 38-year-old Youngstown man at the Mahoning County jail on a warrant from Liberty charging him with one count of failure to appear on a theft charge.
Theft: An employee at a trailer park in the 1100 block of Church Hill-Hubbard Road alleged a man, 47, failed to turn over to him $300 in rent money, and that the man improperly used the victim's account to buy $250 worth of merchandise at a Hubbard hardware store.
Arrest: Police arrested a 16-year-old Youngstown boy at Liberty High School, 1 Leopard Way, and charged him with criminal trespass. A school employee said the boy was in the building to inquire about a friend and that, despite being told to leave, he re-entered through another door.
Jan. 7
Theft: An employee at West Fork Roadhouse, 3850 Belmont Ave., discovered a vehicle key had been removed from her key chain in the break room.
Assault: A Marla Lane man reported another man struck his right wrist area with an ax handle at the victim's residence after the two got into an argument about missing beer.
Drugs: After stopping a car near state Route 193 and Interstate 80 for having no visible registration, police arrested a 45-year-old Girard man and charged him with possession of drug-abuse instruments and possession of drug paraphernalia after officers say they found two hypodermic needles and two spoons and a mirror with suspected drug residue under the front passenger seat and in the glove compartment. The suspect also faced a charge of driving under suspension.
Jan. 8
Assault/criminal damaging: Two people in the 3000 block of Green Acres Drive told police that after confronting a 19-year-old Youngstown man about a broken window, he tried to punch one of the victims during the confrontation. No one was injured.
Assault: An employee at a McDonald's restaurant, 3630 Belmont Ave., alleged her former boyfriend, 17, sneaked up, grabbed her and slammed her head against her vehicle as she was exiting the car. The woman had a cut on her left ear and bruises on her head.
Jan. 9
Theft: An employee at E.J. Blott Elementary School, 4003 Shady Road, discovered her purse containing $140, a cellular phone and several credit cards had been removed from a desk.
Theft/vandalism: Someone pried open a vending machine, causing $1,000 in damage, at PDQ Car Wash, 1951 Church Hill Road, before taking $20 from the machine.
Jan. 10
Theft: A Girard woman told police that after she evicted a 50-year-old woman from a residence the victim owns in the 2900 block of Northview Boulevard, a refrigerator and a dryer were missing. The loss was about $700.
Burglary: A woman in the 300 block of Colonial Drive reported someone used a spare key to enter her residence and remove $16.
Stolen property: Police arrested a 38-year-old Warren man at an Ashland One Stop gas station, 2904 Belmont Ave., on one felony count of receiving stolen property. Police ran a registration check on a 1992 Chevrolet Geo he was driving and determined the car had been stolen in Warren.
Drugs: After responding to a complaint of drug use and prostitution at a Super 8 Motel, 4250 Belmont Ave., police arrested a 55-year-old Youngstown man on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. Officers say they found eight suspected glass crack pipes and numerous bags and spoons inside the room containing white powder and suspected drug residue.
Arrest: After conducting a traffic stop near Naylor-Lloyd and Keefer roads, officers arrested a 27-year-old Niles man. He was wanted on a warrant from Campbell charging him with failure to appear on a driving-under-suspension charge.
HUBBARD
Jan. 5
Arrest: Police arrested a Jones Street man, 36, on a warrant from Hubbard charging him with failure to appear in court on a charge of driving under suspension.
Arrest: Youngstown police held a Hubbard man wanted on a misdemeanor warrant from Hubbard charging him with passing bad checks.
Bad check: An employee at Pagz Bar & amp; Grill, 119 N. Main St., reported someone presented a bad $50 check and failed to make restitution to cover the check.
Jan. 7
Criminal mischief: A woman in the 800 block of North Main Street discovered someone had used a key to damage her vehicle's finish.
Jan. 10
Criminal damaging: Someone cut a lock and removed an undetermined amount of money after breaking into a vending machine at Pitstop Auto Care, 350 N. Main St.
Criminal simulation: An employee at a Speedway gas station, 806 W. Liberty St., called police after receiving a counterfeit $10 bill.
GIRARD
Jan. 9
Attempted theft/criminal mischief: A woman reported someone tried to remove a $350 gas-powered grill from her back porch in the 200 block of Pawnee Court and that it was dropped and damaged in the process.
Theft/criminal mischief: A woman told police she saw a juvenile remove a $75 angel decoration from her lawn in the 100 block of South Davis Street and that the teenager dropped and damaged the item.
Jan. 10
Criminal damaging: After checking a Highland Dairy store, 722 N. Highland Ave., police found that someone had used a rock to break a plate-glass window.
Theft: A woman in the 100 block of Broadway Avenue reported her son had improperly written checks against her mother's account at Charter One Bank, 35 S. State St.
Unauthorized use of a vehicle/recovered property: A man in the 10 block of East Prospect Street said a former neighbor came to his home asking for a ride and that he took the victim's 1979 Chevrolet pickup truck without permission. Hubbard police recovered the vehicle.
