University Housing Corp. names new board member



YOUNGSTOWN -- Rick Schiraldi, director of strategic development for the certified public accounting firm of Cohen and Co., has been named a member of the board of trustees of the University Housing Corp.
UHC is a tax-exempt organization formed to finance and build additional student housing and other educational facilities for Youngstown State University. UHC currently owns University Courtyard Apartments in Smoky Hollow, adjacent to the YSU campus.
Schiraldi coordinates Cohen and Co.'s nontraditional business lines and value-added traditional acquisitions/mergers. He previously was director of tax operations in the firm's Youngstown office, a member of the firm's executive committee from 1990 to 2003, and co-manager of the Mahoning Valley offices.
Active in community
After graduating from YSU, Schiraldi received a law degree from the University of Akron. He is active in numerous committees and task forces of the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber of Commerce. He also serves on the boards of the Youngstown Central Area Community Improvement Corp., the Youngstown Business Incubator, the Youngstown/Mahoning Valley United Way parent organization and the Youngstown State University Alumni Association and is a trustee for the Northeast Ohio Council on Higher Education.
