Titans, Bethany champs

Westminster's women's team is in line for a postseason berth.
WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Sophomore guard Desiree Sterling scored a career-high 22 points and added team-highs of seven rebounds, six assists and three steals to lead the Westminster College women's basketball team to a 64-59 win over Washington & amp; Jefferson College Saturday in the Presidents' Athletic Conference women's basketball tournament championship game.
It marked the first PAC title for the Titans (20-7), coached by Struthers native Rosanne Scott. The 20 wins also set a school record.
Sterling, from Newton Falls, was joined in double figures by Erica Tallo (14) and Mary Jane Eaton (12).
The Presidents (21-6) were paced by Amanda Stanonik with a game-high 23 points.
Both teams could be in line for NCAA Division III or ECAC Southern Region tournament berths, which will be announced today or Monday.
Bethany 94,Washington & amp; Jefferson 78
BETHANY, W. Va. -- Mike Drahos had game-highs of 24 points and 12 rebounds, lead Bethany to the men's championship in the PAC.
Matt Drahos added 19 points for the Bison (24-3), who should hear about an NCAA Division III bid sometime today.
Jim Deep finished with 16 points for Bethany, which led 55-39 at halftime and shot 61.8 percent (21-of-34).
Brandon Duncan had 13 points, while Scott Mezyk finished with nine points and seven assists.
Bethany finished the game shooting 54.1 percent (33-of-61) from the floor, including 11-of-23 on 3-pointers.
Washington & amp; Jefferson (10-18) was led by Tyler Trutza, who scored 26 points.
Trutza made 9-of-12 from the floor, including 5-of-6 on 3-pointers.
Trutza also had seven assists.
Jon Koch scored 19 points for the Presidents, while Patrick Stewart added 11 points and seven rebounds. Brandon Studer scord 10 points.
