HONORS
Lewis earns medal
Army Cpl. Dawn M. Lewis, daughter of Linda Lewis of Girard, has been decorated with the Army Commendation Medal for participating in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
The medal is awarded to individuals who, while serving in any capacity with the Army, have distinguished themselves by acts of heroism, meritorious achievement or meritorious service.
Lewis is a power generator repair mechanic with four years of military service.
In 2001, Lewis graduated from Chaney High School, Youngstown.
DEPLOYED
Wygant assigned to Minot
Air Force Airman Thomas M. Wygant, son of Vicki L. Wygant of Stoneboro, Pa., has arrived for duty at Minot Air Force Base, N.D. Wygant, a traffic management apprentice, is assigned to the 5th Logistics Readiness Squadron. The airman is a 2004 graduate of Reynolds Junior-Senior High School.
Beacham, Parish in Vienna
Air Force Reserve Airman Robert D. Beacham, son of Eugene Hill and Gloria Beacham, both of Youngstown, and Reserve Airman Donald W. Parish, son of Donald and Debra Parish of East Palestine, have arrived for duty as new members of the 910th Airlift Wing, Youngstown Air Reserve Station in Vienna.
Beacham graduated in 1997 from The Rayen School and received an associate degree from Trumbull Business College, Warren.
Parish is a 2003 graduate of Crestview High School.
ADVANCED TRAINING
Carroll completes course
Army Pvt. Nina C. Carroll, daughter of Randi Jo and James M. Carroll of East Liverpool, has graduated from the Automated Logistical Specialist Advanced Individual Training course at the U.S. Army Quartermaster Center and School, Fort Lee, Petersburg, Va.
The course is designed to train soldiers to establish and maintain stock records and other documents; perform stock record/warehouse functions; review and verify bills of lading, contracts, and purchase orders; repair and construct shipping crates for equipment and supplies, and perform prescribed loads and shop stock lists in manual and automated supply applications.
Carroll graduated from East Liverpool High School in 2004.
Waller finishes course
Air Force Reserve Tech. Sgt. James C. Waller III graduated from the Electronic Computer and Switching Systems Apprentice Course at Keesler Air Force Base, Biloxi, Miss.
The course is designed to train airmen to install, maintain, repair, overhaul, and modify mobile and fixed high-speed general and special-purpose computer and switching systems and networks, missile control communications systems, electronic computer switching and associated data transmitting, processing and display equipment.
He is the son of James C. Waller Jr. of Philadelphia, Pa. His wife, Lashaunta, is the daughter of Darrly and Linda Gail Williams of Austintown.
Denney an infantryman
Army Pfc. Louis C. Denney has graduated from Basic Infantry Training, Delta Company 2/58, Fort Benning, Ga. He qualified as expert with rifle and grenade, and was second in the company in the Army Physical Fitness Test. Denney will now attend the Basic Airborne Course at Fort Benning, 11th Infantry Airborne, 507th Infantry.
McFadden graduates
Air Force Senior Airman Kraig E. McFadden, son of Veva Jean Brandon of Grove City, Pa., has graduated from Airman Leadership School at Hickam Air Force Base, Honolulu, Hawaii.
The five-week course is designed to train senior airmen to understand their positions in the Air Force organizational structure, leadership, communications skills, and profession of arms.
The school is the first of three levels of professional military education programs used to develop and cultivate leadership and supervisory skills, and is a required course for airmen to complete prior to being promoted to the rank of staff sergeant.
McFadden, a firefighter crew chief, is assigned to the 509th Civil Engineer Squadron. He graduated in 1995 from Grove City High School, and in 2000, received an associate degree from Northampton Community College.
Parish takes finance class
Air Force Reserve Airman Donald W. Parish II has graduated from the Financial Management and Comptroller Apprentice Course at Keesler Air Force Base, Biloxi, Miss.
The course is designed to train students in the principles and techniques of accounting and comptroller duties in the Air Force organization and government reporting requirements.
He is the son of Donald W. and Debra L. Parish of East Palestine, and graduated from Crestview High School in 2003.
