CUMBERLAND COLLEGE, WILLIAMSBURG, KY.
Korey Howard of Youngstown helped the college speech and debate team win several honors at the 25th annual Collegiate Forensic Association Tournament that took place Jan. 28 & amp; 29 in Montreal, Canada. The team took fourth place overall among the 18 colleges and universities represented at the competition. Howard placed first in pentathlon (top individual competitor), first in duo interpretation, first in informative speaking, second in prose interpretation and fourth in dramatic interpretation.
ANTIOCH COLLEGE, YELLOW SPRINGS, OHIO
Ann Lapidus, daughter of Karen and Larry Lapidus of Poland, is editor of the Antioch College newspaper, The Record. Lapidus is a senior communications and journalism major. She is a 2001 graduate of Poland Seminary High School.
MOUNT UNION COLLEGE, ALLIANCE, OHIO
Students Ashleigh Lawrence of Struthers and Dara Plate of New Waterford have been selected to be part of the preview and orientation staff at the college.
Lawrence is a junior psychology major, and Plate is a junior majoring in early childhood education.
TIFFIN UNIVERSITY, TIFFIN, OHIO
Justin Setty, son of Richard and Joan Setty of Austintown, presented his research paper "The Battle of Agincourt: A Narrative and Analysis" at the 12th Annual Minds at Work Conference at Heidelberg College on Feb. 17.
The Undergraduate Student Research Conference is sponsored by the Academic Enhancement Committee at Heidelberg. He was nominated for the conference and sponsored by Dr. Bruce Bowlus of Tiffin University. Setty discussed factors that enabled a weak and outnumbered English force to triumph over the French army in this battle during the Hundred Years' War.
Setty is a sophomore majoring in forensic psychology at Tiffin University and is a 2003 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School.
