Man accused of breaking into Legion post

YOUNGSTOWN -- A South Side man was arrested and charged with breaking into American Legion Post No. 732/504 on Glenwood Avenue.
Metal bars covering the door at the post had been pulled open with a pick on a wooden handle by the time police arrived around 1:45 a.m. Sunday and heard doors banging and glass breaking.
Boardman police lent their dog for a search of the bar.
David Shine, 45, of West Laclede Avenue was found hiding in a bathroom and arrested on a charge of breaking and entering and possession of drug paraphernalia (crack pipe).
Patrolman Malik Mostella described the damage inside the business as extensive, with the bar area torn up and broken glass from windows all over the floor. The alarm wires were ripped from the wall. The cash register was found on the floor, empty. A table-top video machine was broken into pieces and the money removed. The juke box was also smashed and the money and CDs taken. An electronic dart game was broken and its money taken, too.
Police had originally been sent to the bar at 12:10 a.m. Sunday but were told to disregard the call by the alarm company, reports show.
