PREP WRESTLING Falcons advance three in district

MASSILLON -- Freshman Tony Jameson of Austintown Fitch High won two matches by technical fall, advancing to the semifinals of the Division I district wrestling tournament at Perry High School.
Jameson defeated Mitch Cicconetti of Wooster, 19-1, and Jeff Shymske of Midpark, 15-0. He was one of three Falcon wrestlers to win two matches Friday and reach the semifinals.
Also doing so were Nick Bodnar (135) and Anthony Gigiliotti (145). Bodnar won his matches 4-2 and 5-3, and was to face Jesse Oberdove of North Royalton in a semifinal match today.
Gigliotti won both of his matches 7-5, and was to go against Dustin Schlatter of Massillon Perry in a semifinal today.
Boardman had three wrestlers win two matches and advance to the semifinals -- Adam Chizmar (119) will face Ricky Floyd of Solon, Jon Green (130) was scheduled against Clayton Smith of Solon, and Justin Powell (215) was to go against Mark Sexton of New Philadelphia.
Also, Canfield's Pat McCabe won twice at 171 and will square off against Timmy Miller of Wadsworth in a semifinal today.
Team scores were not available.
Division II
AKRON -- Mentor Lake Catholic led with 59.5 points after two rounds at Firestone High School.
West Branch was sixth with 34 points and had three wrestlers win two matches.
Eric Morrow (119) pinned two opponents to advance to the semifinals, where he will face Quentin Keyes of Walsh Jesuit.
Andy Lamancusa (140) will go against Frank Simko of Richfield Revere, and Nathan Sharp (275) will face Hubbard's Brandon Rydarowicz.
Also at 275, Howland's Rob Holbert won two matches and will go against Xylon Purkiss of Ravenna; Steve Wall (112) won twice to advance to face Isaiah Chapman of Akron Kenmore, and Kyle Gantz (215) won twice and will face Nic Laracuente of Trinity.
Poland's Max Pearce won by a pin and then a decision to reach the 125 semis, where he will go up against Josh Shanholtz of Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary.
Alliance's Chad Shields (189) and Matt Walker (215) both won two matches.
Shields is scheduled against Bill Schindel of Hoban and Walker against Scott Weber of Canal Fulton Northwest.
Division III
TWINSBURG -- Berkshire scored 77 points to lead after the first two rounds at Twinsburg High School. Bedford Chanel was second with 62, Jackson-Milton third with 53.5 and Brookfield fourth with 44.5.
Jackson-Milton's Mark Gibbs (135), Nick Dierkes (145), Mike Wiseman (152), John Rozum (160) and Adam Keck (171) all won two matches to earn semifinal berths.
Gibbs will face Jim Chmura of Chanel, Dierkes will wrestle Mark Reynolds of Black River; Wiseman is scheduled against Ken Sanger of Lutheran West, Rozum will face Phil Martter of Woodridge, and Keck will wrestle Adam Kelly of Waynedale.
South Range's Levi Hively (119) and Andrew Padach (125) won a pair of matches as did Brookfield's Tristan Thompson (112), Brad Harnett (130) and Ross Tice (145).
Bradley Park (215) of Ursuline pinned one opponent and decisioned another to gain a spot in the semis and A.J. Seifert (275) won his opening match by a decision then pinned John Stewart of Brooklyn in 1:19.
