Warriors turn back Salem



SALEM -- Tom Jesko scored 28 points in a losing effort Friday as the Salem High basketball team fell to West Branch, 51-44.
Andy Pappas scored 15 points to lead the Warriors (8-12). Shane Young pulled down 15 rebounds while Brandon McMillen had six.
The Quakers (8-12) open the Division II district tournament at Boardman High Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. against Chaney (3-17).
The Div. II Warriors will open the postseason on Tuesday at 8:15 p.m. at the Canton Memorial Fieldhouse against Canton South.
Niles 80, Chaney 79 (OT)
NILES -- Andrew Cleary scored 21 points and Bill Frech 18 for the Red Dragons (10-10) in the non-conference game. Jake Schenley had six rebounds and Joe Razzane made seven assists.
Evan Busch scored 23 for the Cowboys (3-17) while Jeremy Tomlin scored 20 and Bradley Hinton 15. Hinton also had 12 rebounds while Kory Jackson made six assists.
Ursuline 45, Massillon Jackson 35
YOUNGSTOWN -- Gerome Jones led the Irish (17-3) with 21 points.
Dan Williams led the Polar bears (7-11) with 12 points.
Campbell 53, Western Reserve 37
CAMPBELL -- Terrance Phillips scored 14 points to lead Campbell to its 13th win of the season.
Trey Soares added 13 points for the Red Devils (13-6), who led 25-17 at halftime. Louie Samonas finished with 11 points.
Western Reserve (8-12) was led by Chris Tofilski's 10 points. Dave Ferrando added eight points and Jeff Zatchok scored seven.
GlenOak 84, Rayen 69
CANTON -- Kosta Koufus led the Golden Eagles (16-4) with 21 points and eight blocked shots.
Eric McCollum scored 17 points while Anthony Gage and Nate Wes had 11 apiece.
