Masons' 60th to be celebrated at open reception



XCANFIELD -- Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Mason, 6145 W. Western Reserve Road, will be honored on the occasion of their 60th anniversary during an open reception from noon to 3 p.m. March 5 at Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church in Youngstown, where the couple are members. They ask that gifts be omitted.
Hosting the event will be their children, Robert "Bud" and Betty Mason and Trudy Gail Mason, all of Denver, along with two granddaughters, Dee Dee Hackett Larreau of Tampa and Christine Hackett Duster of Denver.
Mr. Mason and the former Emma G. Kautz were married March 3, 1945, at Pleasant Grove church. They have three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Mason retired in 1973 as a teacher with Youngstown City School District. She belongs to the state and local retired teachers associations, the American Association of University Women, and Forever Young and Lunch Bunch groups at the church, where she has been a parishioner for 66 years and is currently an elder.
Mr. Mason served in the U.S. Air Force as a B-24 pilot in World War II flying a liberation bomber in the Middle East, Romania and Italy. He retired in 1982 from Mason Heating Co. in Youngstown. He is a member and past master of Sulgrave Masonic Lodge and belongs to the Quiet Birdmen flying organization.
