POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent crime activity in Girard, Liberty and Hubbard:
GIRARD
Feb. 13
Possible theft/recovered property: A woman in the 100 block of East Wilson Avenue reported her son left the residence with some computer parts belonging to her. The property was recovered.
Criminal damaging: A woman in the 100 block of East Main Street discovered someone cut all four tires on her vehicle.
Feb. 14
Theft/vandalism: A Girard woman noticed her car's driver's-side window had been broken and that her purse was missing while she was in the 200 block of South State Street.
Theft: After a Canfield woman realized a credit card was missing from her purse, she found out it was improperly used at a CVS Pharmacy and a BP gas station, both on U.S. Route 422.
Feb. 15
Attempted truck thefts: A man discovered someone had entered his 1978 and 1988 Ford trucks at his residence near North State Street, and that both vehicles' steering columns were damaged.
Theft: A woman in the 300 block of Moccasin Trail reported her husband's wallet had been removed from his vehicle in their garage and that someone used his MasterCard credit card at an undetermined gas station.
LIBERTY
Feb. 8
Theft: A Youngstown woman, 67, left a Shell True North station, 3990 Belmont Ave., without paying for $14.20 worth of gasoline.
Recovered property: Poland police recovered a 1993 Olds Cutlass Sedan, stolen from an Ambridge, Pa., woman, in the 200 block of Colonial Drive.
Theft/criminal damaging: A Sharon, Pa., man noticed his vehicle's rear window had been smashed, resulting in $300 worth of damage, while he was at Arby's, 3551 Belmont Ave. An undetermined number of tools was removed from the car.
Feb. 9
Recovered property: After conducting a vehicle registration check in the 3000 block of Green Acres Drive, officers recovered a 1987 Olds Delta 88 that was stolen in Boardman.
Feb. 10
Criminal mischief: A woman in the 1300 block of Millicent Drive told police someone damaged her yard by riding all-terrain vehicles and snowmobiles on the property.
Theft/criminal damaging: A Hubbard woman told police her son's vehicle's dashboard was damaged while he was at Liberty High School, 1 Leopard Way. A $300 AM-FM-compact-disc player was removed.
Theft/criminal damaging: A Liberty High School student noticed someone pulled a window from his car's driver's-side door frame and took $500 worth of CDs and a $275 CD player.
Theft/criminal damaging: A student left Liberty High School and found her vehicle's passenger-side window broken and a $200 paintball gun missing.
Feb. 11
Theft/forgery: An employee at Giant Eagle, 4700 Belmont Ave., called police after discovering that a check a woman wrote to pay for $83.38 worth of merchandise had been stolen in Ashtabula. When the employee left the area to verify the check, the woman reportedly fled the store with the items.
Identity theft: A woman in the 400 block of Arbor Circle told police a company notified her that someone made about 10 attempts to establish credit in her name.
Auto theft: A woman in the 3000 block of Green Acres Drive discovered her 1992 Buick LeSabre missing from a carport.
Recovered property: Police recovered a 1991 Pontiac Grand Am in the 100 block of Thornton Avenue. The vehicle belonged to a Youngstown man.
Arrest: While investigating a shoplifting situation at an Ashland One Stop gas station, 2904 Belmont Ave., police arrested a Windham man, 39. He was wanted on a warrant from Windham charging him with failure to appear on a traffic charge.
Attempted burglary: A man discovered someone tried to break into his residence in the 40 block of James Lane by pulling on a back door. The perpetrator was unable to gain entry, but did $100 in damage to the door.
Arrest: After responding to a report of a woman who left Antone's Italian Cafe, 3551 Belmont Ave., without paying for a take-out order, police arrested a 37-year-old Youngstown woman on a theft charge. She also faced one felony count of receiving stolen property after officers determined the vehicle she was driving had been stolen in Youngstown.
Feb. 12
Aggravated menacing: Police picked up a 68-year-old Middlefield man in Orwell who was wanted on a warrant from Liberty charging him with aggravated menacing.
Drugs: A Warren man, 27, was arrested in Niles on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of drug-abuse instruments.
Feb. 13
Auto theft: A woman left her 1991 Pontiac Grand Prix running and noticed someone had stolen it from her home in the 3000 block of Hadley Avenue.
Theft by deception: A woman in the 1800 block of Tibbets-Wick Road reported receiving an e-mail requesting her to confirm information about her account at Charter One Bank and discovering the e-mail was to a bogus online site. She later realized at least five transactions totaling about $942.59 were made.
Arrest: Officers picked up a Youngstown woman, 33, at the Mahoning County jail. She was wanted on a warrant from Liberty charging her with theft.
Feb. 14
Theft: A customer drove away from a Shell True North station, 3990 Belmont Ave., and failed to pay for $24 worth of gasoline.
Feb. 15
Recovered property: After performing a registration check near Hadley Road and Colonial Drive, police determined the 1988 Chevy Corsica had been stolen in Youngstown. The vehicle was found abandoned with the keys in its ignition.
Arrest: A Youngstown man, 21, wanted on a warrant from Liberty was arrested at the Mahoning County jail. The warrant charged him with failure to appear on a traffic charge.
HUBBARD
Feb. 8
Breaking and entering: A Hubbard man arrived at a residence under construction in the 7300 block of Redwood Drive and noticed some equipment of his was missing.
Feb. 9
Possible breaking and entering: Someone may have broken into a residence in the 200 block of North Main Street through a rear door. Nothing appeared to be missing.
Bad check: An employee at Seven Seventeen Credit Union, 627 W. Liberty St., reported someone tried to cash a stolen check.
Feb. 10
Assault: An employee at Forum Health Northside Medical Center, Youngstown, called police to report a man had been assaulted with a baseball bat while in the 2000 block of Hubbard Road.
Theft: An employee at Hubbard High School, 350 Hall Ave., reported a student told him about a theft from her vehicle.
Feb. 12
Theft: A man reported the theft of a safe from his residence in the 800 block of Elmwood Drive.
Feb. 14
Menacing: An employee at Seven Seventeen Credit Union reported two New Castle, Pa., women tried to cash a $200 check and, when the employee refused the request, the two threatened other workers at the business.
