INDUCTEES Chaney Wall of Fame



Anthony Floyd -- Defensive back for the Indianapolis Colts the past two years. Standout at Chaney for coach Ron Berdis. Was All-City (1996-97-98), All-Northeast Ohio (1997-98) and all-state (1997-98). Division III offensive player of the year in 1997 and Div. II defensive player of the year in 1998. Also was all-city basketball player and standout in track.
Edward Matey -- Played football at Chaney for coach Red Angelo (1962-63). All-City and All-Northeastern selection and honorable mention All-Ohio. Started at Youngstown State for four years for coach Dike Beede. Named defensive MVP and outstanding defensive lineman (1967-68) and Most Valuable Athlete (1968). Football coach at Chaney (1971-86), winning eight City Series titles. Coached Chaney to its first undefeated season 10-0 in 1974. Named Youngstown Touchdown Club coach of the year and Mahoning Valley Coach of the Year 1974. Coached in the Big 33 and Ohio all star games. Matey coached five future professional football players and three All-Americans. Member of the Chaney, Youngstown State and Curbstone Coaches halls of fame.
