MID-AMERICAN Akron routs Ohio on the road

ATHENS -- Bubba Walther scored 14 points and Akron jumped to a 25-point first-half lead and went on to beat Ohio 69-49 Wednesday.
Akron (15-7, 9-5 Mid-American Conference) never trailed, and opened the game on a 14-0 run during which Walther made a pair of 3-pointers.
He also had four assists for the game.
Sonny Troutman and Mychal Green scored 12 points apiece for Ohio (13-9, 8-6).
The Bobcats missed their first 10 shots and committed four turnovers to open the game.
Ohio's first points came more than six minutes into the game when Green made a layup.
Akron's Rick McFadden, who finished with 12 points, hit a 3-pointer with 4:52 to play to give the Zips their largest lead of the night, 65-35.
Bowling Green 70, Ball St. 69
BOWLING GREEN -- John Reimold scored 28 points and made three foul shots in final seconds to help Bowling Green hold off Ball State.
The Falcons (15-7, 9-5 Mid-American Conference) led by as many as 13 points in the second half before the Cardinals (12-10, 7-7) cut the lead to one with 1:07 to go on a 3-pointer by Dennis Trammell, who finished with 21 points.
Reimold made two foul shots with five seconds remaining and one more a second later to make it 70-66. Julien Mills hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer for Ball State.
Ball State shot 53 percent from the field to 47 percent for Bowling Green.
E. Michigan 79, N. Illinois 63
YPSILANTI, Mich. -- Markus Austin, who scored 16 points, was among five players to lead the way with double-digit totals in Eastern Michigan's victory against Northern Illinois.
Darryl Garrett scored 14 for the Eagles (12-12, 5-9 Mid-American), while Michael Ross, Craig Cashen and John Bowler had 12 each.
Bowler added 12 rebounds.
Ross had 10 in the first 20 minutes and Eastern Michigan was 5-of-11 in 3-point shots.
Mike McKinney led Northern Illinois (9-14, 5-10) with 22 and James Hughes added 14.
Eastern Michigan led 43-26 at halftime and held on for the victory.
The Eagles' biggest lead of the game was 22 points, 53-31, in the second half after Austin's two free throws with 15:59 remaining.
