Canfield man arraigned on sex charges

YOUNGSTOWN -- An April trial date has been set for Paul J. Snyder, 50, of Jamison Place, Canfield, who faces six counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.
The indictment accuses Snyder of engaging in sexual conduct with an Austintown girl between July 11, 2001, and Dec. 31, 2004. It began when the girl was 13 and continued until she was 15, authorities say.
Dawn Krueger, an assistant county prosecutor, says the girl tried to break off the relationship, but Snyder kept writing her. The girl told her mother about the situation, and the mother notified Austintown police, Krueger said.
Unlawful conduct with a minor is a third-degree felony, which carries a penalty of one to five years in prison.
Snyder was arraigned before Judge James C. Evans of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court. He posted 10 percent of his $30,000 bond and was released.
The case has been assigned to Judge Maureen A. Sweeney.
