WEST CHALMERS Shot twice, victim tells cops name of gunman

Witnesses say they heard seven shots but saw nothing.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Curtis Hardaway passed out from two gunshot wounds after giving police the last name of the person he says shot him.
Hardaway, 36, whose last known address was Glenwood Avenue, was found face down on the street in the 300 block of West Chalmers Avenue on the South Side about 3:50 a.m. Tuesday. Paramedics told police that he had been shot in the chest and right buttock.
Hardaway was listed in critical condition Tuesday evening in St. Elizabeth Health Center.
When Patrolman Bill Burton arrived, he said he found Hardaway conscious and coherent. Burton asked "Who did this to you?" Hardaway gave police a last name but said he didn't know the suspect's first name.
Hardaway then passed out, Burton said. Police found seven spent shell casings in the street and canvassed the neighborhood for witnesses. No one who saw the shooting came forward, but bystanders said they had heard seven gunshots, police said.
A gold car was seen leaving after the shots were fired.
Reports show that Hardaway also has addresses on East Park Avenue in Niles and on Parkcliffe Avenue in Youngstown.
