LOS ANGELES -- "American Idol" third-place finisher Kimberley Locke is a winner when it comes to love. Locke, who competed in season two of the Fox television talent contest, said she is engaged to marry her high school sweetheart, Don Campbell. She made the announcement to TV entertainment magazine "Extra" in an interview that aired Tuesday. Locke, 27, and Campbell have dated off and on for 10 years. They plan to live in Los Angeles and have yet to set a wedding date. "I'm going to take the time to order every wedding magazine and book ever published," Locke told "Extra." She had a hit single, "8th World Wonder," and is working on a new album, expected to be released by the end of the year. Locke said the album "is going to be a bit more personal as I'm committed to co-writing half of it or more, which is both wonderful and nerve-racking." Locke finished third to runner-up Clay Aiken and winner Ruben Studdard in the show's second season.
Stevie Wonder playsto post-Grammy crowd
LOS ANGELES -- It was a veritable celeb love-in after the Grammys wrapped up at a couple of parties in Lalaland. At chichi Beverly Hills grub outlet Spago, Stevie Wonder let loose with a performance dedicated to the late Ray Charles. The impromptu show was watched by Carson Daly, Joe Pesci, Quincy Jones and record of the year co-winner Norah Jones. The Sony BMG fete at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel drew the youthful set, including Maroon 5 bassist Mickey Madden. Also in attendance: mega-rock band Velvet Revolver, Jill Scott, Cyndi Lauper, Ricky Martin and, of course, E! Network's red-carpet diva, Star Jones Reynolds.
Rock's remark on Oscarswins notice by Drudge
LOS ANGELES -- Conservative Web poster Matt Drudge has whipped himself into a froth over provocative comments made by Chris Rock ... two weeks ago. In an Entertainment Weekly story about his gig hosting this year's Academy Awards, Rock said he had never watched the show, and dismissively said: "Come on, it's a fashion show. ... What straight black man sits there and watches the Oscars? Show me one." When pressed by interviewer Josh Wolk about Oscar fashions, Rock, who's known for his raw, unsanitized comedy routines, said, "Nothing against people who aren't straight, but what straight guy that you know cares?" Drudge says on his site, drudgereport.com, that some members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts are privately calling for the comic's removal as host of the Feb. 27 show. He quotes an unidentified "veteran Hollywood mogul" who sounds a bit miffed: "Simply put, this is a disgrace." Academy exec administrator Ric Roberts tells Variety there's no brouhaha among members and no plans to ditch Rock as host. "There hasn't even been a peep from our membership," he said, "and we're really excited about him hosting."
Lohan is a real doll
NEW YORK -- Are you a Lohan girl, living in a Lohan world? Lindsay Lohan, the red-haired "Mean Girls" star, is getting the Barbie treatment with a new doll made in her likeness. The doll is dressed in full red-carpet splendor, wearing a beige dress and a faux fur-trimmed coat. The Mattel doll comes complete with a director's chair and her very own velvet rope, the company announced recently. Part of the toy maker's "My Scene" line, the Lohan doll is due out in June and will retail for about $30. The first peek at the doll will come at the annual American International Toy Fair, which starts Sunday in New York and concludes Feb. 23. Lohan, 18, also starred in "Freaky Friday" and recently finished shooting "Herbie: Fully Loaded," an update of the Disney story about a plucky Volkswagen Beetle.
Perry out of the hospital
LOS ANGELES -- "Friends" star Matthew Perry, who has previously been treated for alcohol and prescription drug addiction, is back home after a brief hospital stay due to what his publicist called a bad reaction to prescription medicine, reports The Associated Press. Perry, 35, was taken to a hospital last week and stayed overnight for doctor-ordered observation, publicist Lisa Kasteler said Sunday. She didn't provide details. "He's home. He's fine," she said. In 1997, Perry voluntarily checked into a treatment center to battle an addiction to prescription painkillers.
