BOYS BASKETBALL McDonald's Beedle breaks record with 51



South Range bounced Columbiana while United lost at Minerva.
McDONALD -- James Beedle set a school record by scoring 51 points and led the McDonald High boys basketball team to a 97-67 rout of Mathews Tuesday night in a non-conference game.
Beedle did all his scoring in the first three quarters as the Blue Devils regulars did not play in the final quarter.
McDonald (18-2) held a 55-37 halftime lead and upped that to 80-51 after three quarters.
Mathews (6-13) had a 30-point effort from Matt Weymer.
South Range 56, Columbiana 45
NORTH LIMA -- Brian Crawford tossed in 15 points while Brandon Bierdeman added a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds as South Range led from start to finish against Columbiana.
The Raiders improved to 6-12.
Columbiana (12-8) got 11 points from Eric Bailey while Eric Ostrander and Dave Vitko each added 10.
Minerva 58, United 55
MINERVA -- Wade Rittenhouse scored 25 points and helped rally Minerva in the final period to defeat the Eagles.
The Lions, who trailed 23-9 in the opening period, also got 14 points from Jim Fields and 11 from Carter Battista.
United (12-7) was led by Aaron Rowley with 15 points and Dan Shaffer with 13. Bubba Taylor pulled down 12 rebounds and had three assists for the Golden Eagles.
West Branch 43, Waterloo 40
ATWATER -- Marc Carle connected on a 3-point goal with five seconds remaining to break a 40-40 deadlock and lead the Warriors past the Vikings.
Jared Hoffman paced the Warriors (7-12) with 13 points. Carle's 3-point goal was the only one of the game for the Warriors.
Eric Shiele led Waterloo (14-5) with 19 points.
