Massucci to lead Warren auxiliary police
WARREN -- A police officer familiar to many city residents now directs the Warren Auxiliary Police Department.
Ronald Massucci was sworn in to the position Monday by Safety-Service Director William Franklin during a brief city hall ceremony.
Massucci of Warren retired in 1998 as a patrolman, having served 35 years on the city police department.
Now, he's volunteered to direct about a dozen more volunteer auxiliary police.
The force staffs football games, events at the W.D. Packard Music Hall, all parades in Warren, and provides parking security at many events.
"This is all volunteer. They do the minor things, where they don't have to call regular police," Massucci said.
Auxiliary police provide a police presence and assistance but have no arrest powers.
Massucci's term as director is open-ended.
