GIRLS TOURNAMENT BASKETBALL Warren JFK, South Range advance in Div. III tourney

Badger also advanced, while Lakeview lost in Div. II sectional play.
HANOVERTON -- Aarika Knepp tossed in 19 points and led Warren JFK to a 54-41 victory over Lisbon in the opening round of the Girls Division III tournament Saturday.
Michelle Chavis added 10 points and Lauren Broadbent 10 for the Eagles (12-9), who advance to meet Springfield Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
Lisbon, which ended its season at 13-8 was led by Emily Smith and Erica Smith with 10 points each.
South Range 43, Mineral Ridge 31
HANOVERTON -- South Range jumped out to a 27-13 halftime advantage then coasted past Mineral Ridge to advance in Div. III.
Michelle Pingley and Heather Stacy each tossed in 12 points to lead the Raiders, who improved to 10-11 and will advance to meet Cardinal Mooney Wednesday at 6 p.m.
Mineral Ridge, which bowed out of the tournament with a 3-18 record, was led by Rachael Siler with 13 points.
Badger 50, Pymatuning Valley 42
ANDOVER -- The third time was the charm for Badger girls as the Braves turned back Pymatuning Valley in the opening round of the Div. III sectional tournament.
Py Valley had defeated Badger twice during the regular season, but the Braves made 10 of 15 free throws in the final quarter sparked by Nikki Likens to pull out the win.
Likens finished with 12 points while Shannon Sudon added 11 and Christy Stahl 10 as the Braves improved to 9-12 and will meet Burton Berkshire next Saturday at 4 p.m.
Py Valley was led by Michelle Lauteran with 14 points and Tracy Gruskiewicz with 10.
In other sectional action at Py Valley on Saturday Hawken defeated Cardinal 49-29 and Wickliffe routed Beachwood 62-18.
NDCL 59, Lakeview 53
ASHTABULA -- Jena Centa tossed in 26 points including 12 of 15 from the free throw line to lead Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin past Lakeview in the Division II sectional tournament.
Amanda Graetes added 17 points for the winners, who improved to 9-12.
Lakeview, which bowed out of the tournament with a 14-7 record, was led by Christina Martin with 14 points and eight rebounds, while Chelsea Butler added 11.
NDCL hit 7-of-9 free throws in the final quarter and 21-of-29 for the game to ice the victory.
