YSU BASKETBALL Penguins teams look for winning formula

Men's and women's teams attempt to begin winning streaks today.
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Youngstown State basketball teams return to action today.
The YSU men's team (4-18, 2-10) visits Horizon League leader Wisconsin-Milwaukee at the U.S. Cellular Arena at 8 p.m., while the Penguins' women's team plays host to Butler at the Beeghly Center at 2 p.m.
UW-Milwaukee (18-5, 11-2) has won 11 of its last 12 games, including a 74-67 victory at Loyola on Thursday. Ed McCants scored 18 points as the Panthers overcame a six-point deficit in the final eight minutes.
McCants leads UW-Milwaukee, averaging 17.2 points per game. McCants has made 77 3-pointers this season and is 61-of-72 at the free-throw line.
Five players average at least 7.8 points per game.
After being held below double figures in scoring against UW-Milwaukee and IPFW, YSU's Quin Humphrey has heated up. He has made a 3-pointer in each of the last six games, going 11-of-24 from behind the arc. He has scored 97 points in that span, an average of 16.2 per contest. He is 39-of-71 overall from the field in that stretch.
Following the game at Milwaukee, YSU plays three consecutive home contests. The Penguins entertain Wright State on Wednesday, Eastern Michigan on Feb. 19 and Butler on Feb. 23.
Women face Butler
The YSU women (9-14, 3-9 HL) will try to snap a three-game losing streak and avenge an earlier loss to Butler (10-12, 4-7).
The Penguins have lost 10 of their last 13 games, including a 61-51 decision to Wright State on Wednesday.
Junior Michelle Holmes led YSU with a career-high 13 points, while Jen Perugini recorded her 10th double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Butler, which is tied for fifth place in the Horizon League, has won two of its last three games, but lost 74-70 to UIC on Wednesday.
Youngstown State will be off following today's game until Feb. 19, when it visits Wisconsin-Green Bay.
