KENT -- Josh Almanson scored 23 points including 10 during a second-half surge to spur Bowling Green to a 77-73 win over Kent State on Saturday.
Kent State (16-8, 8-5 Mid-American Conference) led 59-58 after Kevin Warzynski's 3-pointer with 7:42 remaining before Almanson scored 10 of the next 12 for Bowling Green (14-7, 8-5).
Almanson hit three free throws, a jumper and then had a rebound follow for another basket to put the Falcons ahead 65-62.
After Warzynski made another 3-pointer with 4:06 left to tie it, Bowling Green's Steven Wright made two free throws to give the Falcons the lead for good. On their next possession, Almanson hit a 3-pointer with 3 minutes remaining to push the lead to 70-66.
John Reimold, who added 19 points, made a layup and hit a free throw in the final 13 seconds as the Falcons held on.
Warzynski scored 23 points, hitting all three of his 3-point attempts and 10-of-11 free throws, while Jason Edwin scored 16 and Scott Cutley had 10 for the Golden Flashes.
Buffalo 67, Ball St. 58
AMHERST, N.Y. -- Turner Battle scored 14 points to lead Buffalo over Ball State. Mark Bortz finished with 13 points for Buffalo. Calvin Cage and Mario Jordan each added 10. Peyton Stovall led Ball State with a game-high 17 points. Terrance Chapman had 12 and Julien Miles 11.
W. Michigan 90, Marshall 70
KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- Levi Rost scored a game-high 22 points to lead Western Michigan over Marshall. Rost finished 7-of-11 to score at least 20 points for the third consecutive game as the Broncos (16-8, 9-5 MAC) reached a season-high in points scored and broke a two-game losing streak. David Anderson's 16 points and seven rebounds led Marshall (5-17, 2-11), which saw a two-game winning streak broken. The Thundering Herd was held to 39.7 percent shooting and seven 3-pointers -- two under its league-leading average. Ben Reed added 15 points for Western Michigan, Stane's Bufford scored 14 and Joe Reitz had 12.
E. Michigan 79, Cent. Michigan 72
YPSILANTI, Mich. -- Eastern Michigan held off Central Michigan's second-half rally. James Jackson led the Eagles (11-12, 4-9 Mid-American) with 16 points and John Bowler added 15. Kevin Nelson's 18 points led Central Michigan (7-15, 2-12), which suffered its eighth consecutive loss.
Ohio 61, Miami (Ohio) 57
ATHENS -- Mychal Green made a layup and two free throws in the final 25 seconds Saturday, helping Ohio snap Miami's seven-game winning streak. Green went 2-of-10 from the field and scored eight points, well below his average of 15.3. Leon Williams led Ohio (13-8, 8-5) with 16 points. Miami (15-6, 10-3) was led by Doug Penno with 15.
Toledo 74, N. Illinois 58
TOLEDO -- Florentino Valencia scored 13 points and started and ended a 21-2 first-half run with baskets to lead Toledo over Northern Illinois.
After Northern Illinois' Bryson McKenzie tied the game at 14 with a layup with 11:30 left in the opening half, the Rockets (12-10, 8-5 Mid-American Conference) took over.
Seven players scored for Toledo and the Huskies (9-13, 5-9) went without a basket for almost eight minutes.
The Rockets led 42-26 at the half and the lead never dropped below 17 points in the final 15 minutes.
