Employees find their calling

Workers get health insurance and other benefits.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Michael Jorge of Struthers, a communicator working at InfoCision's Austintown call center, is an example of how important the employees are to the growth of InfoCision.
Jorge joined the company two years ago at a time when both he and his wife had found themselves out of work. He was laid off from the Mahoning County Sheriff's Department, where he had worked as a deputy, and before that he worked in retail as an account manager.
Today, he works in the political room at the InfoCision call center. He likes to refer to himself as a "communication specialist" because of skills used in each call.
"You have to have a knack for it and understand how to adapt to each person you talk with," Jorge said.
He conceded it is a tough job, but at the same time he has found it to be very rewarding.
"Knowing that you're doing a good job and that you have the opportunity to do even better is very satisfying," he said.
Opportunity
Jorge has received recognition as "Employee of the Month" and received consistent quality bonus performance awards.
He said there are opportunities for advancement at InfoCision and he has aspirations of moving into a supervisory position.
"It's a great company to work for. You have the opportunity to advance, especially with it growing like this," said Jorge.
"Our communicators are our greatest resources," emphasized Steve Brubaker, senior vice president of corporate affairs.
Brubaker started out as a communicator and has moved up the ladder since joining the company in 1985. He came on board while attending the University of Akron and working part time as a bank teller. He worked his way up through the ranks as a supervisor, manager and to his current position.
Brubaker said InfoCision employees come from all walks of life and the average age of its staff is 40. He stated that they recruit people who have good communication skills, are career-minded, and have life experience.
Communicators start at a salary of $7 to $ 8 per hour, but can make more money based on quality performance.
In addition, InfoCision offers a 401(k) program for full-time employees, which they can participate in after 90 days of employment, as well as a medical benefits package.
