Center reports growth
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Christian Revival and Discipleship Center, located in the former Jefferson Elementary School, 1514 Virginia Ave., is in its 10th week of service under the direction of the Rev. Kenneth M. Paramore, founder and senior pastor.
Church officials say weekly attendance in the new congregation is more than 300 and continues to grow weekly.
The Rev. Mr. Paramore, a Youngstown native and Rayen School graduate, has been active in ministry for more than 20 years. He also serves as pastor of the United Baptist Church in Akron, with a membership of 1,500 congregants.
Through Paramore Ministries Inc., Mr. Paramore is the CEO of Victory Community Center, located within the multifunctional building. In addition to the church, it also houses the Bradley Bible College, a fully credited Bible college.
Meanwhile, plans are being completed to open Victory Day Care Center on March 1. Other plans at Victory Community Center include an elementary school, fitness facility, computer lab and a youth center that will be open 365 days a year. Mr. Paramore, a highly sought after speaker who has preached and taught all over the world, also plans to build a sanctuary to seat 1,300 people.
Christian Revival and Discipleship Center holds its Sunday service at noon and Bible study at 6 p.m. Tuesdays. Children's church also takes place during those services.
Guest speaker planned
GREENVILLE, Pa. -- Living Word Christian Center, 21 S. Maysville Road, will present guest speaker Mary Alice Isleib, an international teacher and minister, at 7 p.m. Friday during a women's ministry and at 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. worship services Feb. 20. Parish hosts lunch series
BOARDMAN -- St. Charles Borromeo Parish, 7345 Westview Drive, is sponsoring a "Learn While You Lunch" series of speakers from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesdays during Lent, beginning next week through March 16. Speakers will be in the St. Luke Room of the church. Bring your own lunch. The parish will provide beverages. All are welcome. For more information, call (330) 758-8063.
Family dinner set
POLAND -- The Parish Life Committee of Poland Presbyterian Church, 2 Poland Manor, is sponsoring an old-fashioned church family casserole dinner at 5 p.m. Sunday, in the fellowship hall.
All those planning to attend are asked to bring a casserole, salad or vegetable dish to serve 14-16 people, plus table service for each family. A choice of meat, dessert and beverage will be provided.
The Rev. Nick Mager, current moderator of session, will attend to meet the congregation.

Interim pastor named
BOARDMAN -- The Rev. Robert D. Hughes is the new interim pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, 1463 Shields Road.
The Rev. Mr. Hughes, a resident of Akron, received a master's divinity degree from Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Philadelphia and a bachelor's degree from Dennison University in Granville.
He has served as pastor of Lakeside Baptist Church in Painesville and First Baptist Church in Loudonville, Ohio.
He previously worked in the region through his work with the Neighborhood Ministries program and other local churches.
Performing arts ministry plans play
CAMPBELL -- St. Joseph the Provider, St. John the Baptist and St. Elizabeth churches will host the Passion Play "Tetelesti" at 8 p.m. Feb. 25-26 and at 2 p.m. Feb. 27.
Performances will be given by the Cleveland Performing Arts Ministry at St. Joseph the Provider Church, 633 Porter Ave.
The play's Greek translation means, "It is finished," which were the dying words of Jesus Christ on the cross. The dramatic musical presentation depicts the events of Christ's last week on earth, including his trial, death and Resurrection.
There is no admission charge. An offering will be taken. The public is invited to attend the Lenten presentation.
