PREP BAKSETBALL Salem holds off Cardinal Mooney



Bodrick's 27, Brunetti's 24 not enough to to lead Cardinals past Quakers.
SALEM -- Salem High's balance overcame two superb invidiual performances by Cardinal Mooney.
Katherine McGarry and Kelly Roelen scored 12 points apiece, as the Quakers remained unbeaten with a 61-56 overtime victory over the Cardinals Wednesday night.
Sarah Hamilton added 10 points and a game-high 12 rebounds for the fourth-ranked Quakers (19-0), who trailed 30-22 at halftime.
For Mooney (11-7), Amber Bodrick scored 27 points and had 10 rebounds and five assists. Gina Brunetti had 24 points and five rebounds.
Canfield 61, Alliance 28
ALLIANCE -- The Cardinals survived their last hurdle to a showdown with Salem.
Jackie Glista, Stephanie Zunic and Kate Popovec all scored eight points for Canfield (14-5, 10-1 Metro Athletic Conference), which led 19-0 after the first quarter.
Canfield will play host to Salem (19-0, 11-0) tonight in the final MAC game of the year. The Quakers edged the Cardinals 43-40 in Salem on Dec. 16.
Megan Geigher scored seven points for the Aviators (1-18, 1-11).
Hubbard 42, Niles 37
NILES -- Callie Oyler scored 11 points and Shari Bullock added 10 for Hubbard in a non-conference game.
The Eagles (6-13) led 35-17 after three periods.
Nina Gabreleik scored 11 points and Kelly Leonard added 10 for the Red Dragons (3-17).
Regina 89, Poland 17
POLAND -- Regina was led by Carla Jacobs, with 24 points, and Shay Selby, with 18.
Kalynne Proctor scored 13 for the Royals, who led 45-5 at halftime.
Alex Rokicki and Klashell Porch led Poland (6-13) with four points each.
Boys
STEUBENVILLE -- Jerome Jones scored 21 points to lead Ursuline in a big second-half comeback.
D'Aundray Brown added 16 points for the Irish (14-3), who trailed 34-18 at halftime. Carey Palermo scored 10 points.
Leroy Benjamin had 17 points for the Big Red, while Eugene Bruce added 15. Byron Johnson scored 11 and Zach Collaros had 10.
Perry 51, Fitch 42
CANTON -- Michael Brown, Stas Cherney and James Wallace all scored 10 points for Fitch in the Federal League tournament's fifth-place game.
The Falcons fell to 9-9. Perry is 8-9.
Jackson 55, Boardman 47
CANTON -- Danny Williams scored 14 points for Jackson (7-12) in the seventh-place game at the Federal League Tournament.
Nick Ludban led Boardman (6-12) with 14 points.
