SteelHounds suffer 6-3 loss to Colorado Eagles

Youngstown couldn't handle the Eagles' power plays.
LOVELAND, Colo. -- The best team in the Central Hockey League was too much for the Youngstown SteelHounds (11-17-1).
The Colorado Eagles' special teams overpowered the SteelHounds with three power-play goals and a shorthanded goal in Friday's 6-3 victory.
Ryan Tobler had two goals for the Eagles (22-6-1) while Jeff Christian and Chris Richards each had a goal and assist for the SteelHounds who have dropped three straight games and four consecutive away from home.
Behind very quickly
The Eagles didn't waste any time to get the offense going as they scored just 19 seconds into the game, the fastest goal to start a game against the Hounds.
Garrett Larsen received credit for his 12th goal of the season as he re-directed an Erik Adams shot by goaltender David St. Germain. Adams and Greg Pankewicz drew the assists.
Colorado made it 2-0 later in the period when the SteelHounds were on the power play. Sean Robertson picked off a pass and went down the ice on a shorthanded 2-on-1.
Robertson slid a pass across the goalmouth finding Ryan Tobler who buried it for his 11th goal of the season and the second shorthanded goal against Youngstown.
The Eagles outshot the Hounds 12-11 in the period as Paulo Colaiacovo ran his shutout streak against Youngstown to 80 minutes.
Christian scores
Youngstown cut the lead in half in the second period with a goal scored by Christian, his league-leading 26th of the season.
He was assisted by Chris Richards and Jonathan Gagnon at the 5:13 mark.
Colorado answered with a slap shot by Aaron Grosul.
The Hounds cut it back to a goal on a 5-on-3 power play with Richards beating Colaiacovo top shelf for his 10th goal.
Youngstown is off until Tuesday when they face the first-place Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs.
