Sharon man jailed for a parcel of pot



He could serve up to six months.
MERCER, Pa. -- A Sharon man was given a jail term Friday after being caught with two pounds of marijuana, which had been mailed to him.
Ricky Johnson Jr., 29, of Cedar Avenue, was sentenced by Judge John Reed of Mercer County Common Pleas Court to one to six months followed by one year's probation for possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, a felony. He was arrested May 31 at a Pitt Street, Sharon, address with the package.
Court documents state he had conspired with another person to have the drugs sent to him.
Others sentenced:
*Lemetrius Cleveland, 26, of Lee Avenue, Youngstown, one year of probation for false identification to law enforcement authorities, a misdemeanor. On April 8, 2005, he gave a false name to Hermitage police who were questioning him as part of an investigation.
*Brian Mosley, 28, of Ormond Avenue, Sharon, two years' probation for theft by unlawful taking, a misdemeanor. He was also ordered to make restitution. In August 2004, he was given $1,340 from a woman at a Sharon location to buy and install speakers in her vehicle. Mosley had told the woman he installed speakers as an affiliate of a local store, though he did not. He kept the money but did not install any speakers.
*Julie Schultz, 35, of Clark, two years' probation for possession of drug paraphernalia, a felony, and theft by deception, a misdemeanor. In May, she placed clothing belonging to Kaufmann's, 3515 E. State St., Hermitage, into shopping bags. She then went to a clerk and obtained store credit for the merchandise, though she had never paid for it. On her arrest, she was found in possession of drug paraphernalia, described as copper wire screening.
*Joseph Smith, 38, of Shenango Park Road, Transfer, was placed on two years' probation and ordered to make restitution for theft by deception, a misdemeanor. He used a stolen credit card in April and May to buy $1,421 worth of items at businesses in Hermitage, Niles, Boardman, Austintown and Warren..
*Gary Taylor, 19, of Saunders Avenue, Sharon, was placed on two years' probation and ordered to make restitution for burglary, a felony, for a March 22, 2004, break-in at the old Elks building on Shenango Avenue and Pitt Street, Sharon.
