Don't drop the ball -- until midnight, that is

Youngstown city workers put a ball in place atop the city annex building in downtown Youngstown in preparation for tonight's New Year's Eve ball drop. The event will be part of First Night Youngstown festivities. The ball, which is lighted, was made by students at Choffin Career Center several years ago. A Youngstown Fire Department ladder truck hoisted the ball to the roof. From left the workers are Mickey Kozlorynsky, Al Nagy, James Pierce and Sean Dillon. First Night Youngstown activities begin at 5 p.m. in downtown Youngstown and continue at two dozen venues until the ball drop at midnight.
