Ridge boys grab tourney crown



LORDSTOWN -- The Mineral Ridge High boys basketball team forced 19 steals and got revenge for last year's one-point loss to McDonald (4-2) in the Lordstown holiday tournament championship game with a 72-60 victory in Thursday's championship rematch.
Micah Hall 17 had points, Vance Keirsey 15, Wade Campbell 12 points and Dan Hawout 10 for Ridge (7-0).
John Hack had six steals, while Hall and Campbell had five apiece for the winners. Hack also had eight of the Rams' 25 rebounds.
Cory Vukovic's 20 points paced McDonald, whose only losses are to Ridge.
Canton Central Catholic 67,Wilson 52
YOUNGSTOWN -- Cory Berry tossed in 25 points to lead Canton Central Catholic.
Mitch Anderson added 14 points and Nick Foster 10 for Central (6-1).
William Johnson scored 13 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to pace Wilson (3-5), while Glen Brown had 12 points and Justin Maxwell 10.
Carlisle 40, Kennedy Catholic 36
DARLINGTON, Pa. -- Kennedy Catholic fell to 1-2 in the Blackhawk Holiday Tournament.
The Eagles were led by Blair Rozenblad with 17 points and David Jackson added 15.
Carlisle was led by Carl Wilson with 20 points.
Host Blackhawk dropped a 76-67 decision to Shaler in the another contest.
The Cougars were led by Antoine Child's 21 points while Timothy Lipp added 18. Matt Davis of Shaler led all scorers with 28 points and Craig DeVinney added 21.
