"I take my family on vacation every Christmas and New Year's. But I also go to Wal-Mart and get a bunch of gift certificates. A riveting read
Lucretia Sandoni was an unexpected prize in a game of poker, found bundled up in the back of a Buick. The Sandoni family took the orphan in, with hopes that she would carry on the family business. But Lucy has other plans. Plans to escape and find the "Buicks," her imagined family.
"Looking for Lucy Buick," ($15.95, Delacorte Press) by Rita Murphy, combines the excitement and accompanying trepidation of leaving behind everything you've ever known, with the desire and challenge of finding a place where you truly belong.
In this sweet coming-of-age story, Lucy often has heart-to-hearts with her dead aunts, and since she was thought to have died in an explosion at the plant her uncles owned, she worries everyone in small-town Iowa will discover her true identity and force her to go home to New York. But, ultimately, she finds that following her heart was the best decision she could have made and family is not necessarily something you're born into. Get "Lucy Buick" at bookstores everywhere.
