Liberty company wants to help tourism board

WARREN -- The new Trumbull County Tourism Bureau has received a proposal from Vic Rubenstein of Rubenstein Associates of Liberty to provide promotional activities for the board for the first three months of the year.
Last week, the board listened to Rubenstein's proposal but did not act on it, said Mary Ann Porinchak, chairman of the bureau.
Rubenstein said his agency would provide services such as marketing, sales and public relations at cost -- not for any profit to his agency. He said the idea was to get the tourism bureau "off the ground running."
Porinchak said the board talked with Lissa Stiffy, who has been running the current tourism office at 2831 Youngstown Road S.E. for several months to see if she wanted to stay on temporarily, and she does not.
The bureau then found someone through a temporary help agency to staff the office for a few months, Porinchak said. Stiffy is training the temp this week but then will no longer work for the agency, she said.
The board meets again today at 4 p.m. at Avalon Inn.
