Court sues to recoup missing $25K

WARREN -- Warren Municipal Court has filed a civil lawsuit to recover more than $25,000 that a deputy clerk is accused of stealing -- and to stop her from spending money connected with the incident.
The suit seeks to recover money from Judith M. DeJacimo of Glenn Drive Northeast, who has worked for the court since 1993. The suit says DeJacimo converted more than $25,000 of court funds for her use.
The suit also seeks to recover the cost of audits, damages and costs associated with the missing money as well as unspecified punitive damages.
DeJacimo was placed on leave Nov. 7 through a journal entry signed by municipal Judges Terry F. Ivanchak and Thomas P. Gysegem and was to remain on unpaid leave until further order of the court.
The court's restraining order request seeks to keep DeJacimo from tranferring, gifting or removing her name from any assets that may be in her name.
"There is an ongoing criminal investigation, it is likely that the defendant will be indicted for her criminal conduct in this action," the suit says.
"The assets of the defendant must be preserved in order to make any monetary restitution for any amount which will be shown to have been taken by the conduct of the defendant," it says.
