Executive is selected for 9/11 memorial

NEW YORK (AP) -- An executive who played a major role in repairing the World Trade Center after it was bombed in 1993 was appointed Tuesday to oversee construction of the memorial to the Sept. 11 victims.
William H. Goldstein will be the executive vice president of construction for the World Trade Center Memorial Foundation, which is responsible for raising the money for the $490 million memorial and building and operating it. The memorial, scheduled to open in 2009, will include two reflecting pools framed by the names of the victims, an outdoor plaza and trees.
