NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- A Youngstown driver, who authorities say failed to stop for a flashing red traffic light, struck the unmarked car of an on-duty New Castle police officer.
Maceo Hill, 29, of Mariner Avenue, Youngstown, was at Mercer and East Washington streets when his 1993 Jeep struck the front of a car driven by Officer Robert Salem, 37, Pennsylvania State Police said.
Salem and Hill's passenger, Schrika Hill, 34, of Lynval Street in New Castle, suffered minor injuries in the accident early Monday, state troopers said. Maceo Hill was not hurt, state police said. Both vehicles were severely damaged.
Shot shatters window,cuts 6-year-old's face
YOUNGSTOWN -- A 6-year-old girl was slightly injured by flying glass after someone shot a BB or pellet gun and hit the vehicle in which she was riding.
The girl's mother told Youngstown Police that she, her daughter and a friend were driving on East Indianola Avenue about 5:25 p.m. Monday and had just crossed Rush Boulevard when she heard the driver's-side rear window shatter. The girl had a small cut on her left cheek, according to a police report.
The damage to the window was consistent with a BB or pellet gun, and it appears the gun was fired from the northeast corner of the intersection, police said. Officers checked the area but did not come up with suspects or witnesses.

Barge sinks in Lake Erie
ERIE, Pa. (AP) -- Crews were working to keep a former railroad barge from sinking into Presque Isle Bay on Lake Erie.
The last known owner of the boat, which is known as the Landsdown, was Specialty Restaurants of Anaheim, Calif.
Two years ago, the company proposed turning it into a floating restaurant, but that plan fell through, and the boat and its skeletal metal superstructure remained tied to a pier in Erie, controlled by the Erie-Western Pennsylvania Port Authority.
The boat appeared to be taking on water in the last several days, according to a report made to the U.S. Coast Guard.
Coast Guard crews determined that the empty craft poses no pollution threat if it sinks, so they are no longer monitoring the situation, a spokesman said Monday.
Officials with Specialty Restaurants and the Port Authority did not return calls for comment Monday.
