YOUNGSTOWN -- Two men remain in critical condition in St. Elizabeth Health Center after being shot early Christmas morning on the city's South Side.
Police found the victims, Kevin L. McDonald, 35, of Eliot Lane, and Tim Moncrief, 28, of West Heights Avenue, lying on the ground in front of 323 W. LaClede Ave. and being treated by ambulance crews after the 4:09 a.m. shooting.
McDonald had been shot once each in the chest and left arm, and Moncrief was shot three times in the chest and once in the back.
Police observed a bullet hole in the driver's-side door of a car at the scene and recovered two spent shell casings and a bullet from the scene, but they were unable to contact a witness who had been in the vicinity when the shooting occurred.
Burglar kills woman, 94
AMBRIDGE, Pa. (AP) -- A 94-year-old woman beaten after she apparently surprised a burglar in her home died Saturday from her injuries, police said.
Anna Rocknick of Harmony Township was beaten in the head, possibly with a tire iron, by a man who pried open the front door, Harmony Township Police Chief Jack Lively said. She still managed to call 911 at 2:40 a.m. Saturday.
"She was standing up when my officers went through the door," Lively said. "Annie refused to sit down; she didn't want to get blood on the couch."
Rocknick was taken to Sewickley Valley Hospital and later to Allegheny General Hospital, where she died later Saturday morning, authorities said.
Before she died, Rocknick described her attacker as a young, white male. "We've got a ton of police out, but we need anyone who saw something to come forward," Lively said. "Somebody went home last night with a lot of blood on them."
Man to stand trialin fatal shooting
HOMESTEAD, Pa. (AP) -- A man accused of shooting to death another man in a suburban Pittsburgh movie theater last month was ordered Friday to stand trial on a homicide charge. Larue Graves, 30, of Aliquippa, is charged with one count of criminal homicide and a firearms count in the Nov. 9 shooting of Shelton L. Flowers, 30, of Wilkinsburg, at the Loews Cineplex at The Waterfront.
Graves was arrested Nov. 23 at a motel in Monroeville, about 10 miles east of Homestead, police said. Authorities said the shooting stemmed from a dispute in prison, where both had served time, and not from the 50 Cent movie, "Get Rich or Die Tryin'," which was showing at the time and which was pulled after the shooting.
The two men bumped into each other in a theater restroom, where they argued and fought, police said. The fight spilled into the main building near the concession stand, where both men apparently drew guns and fired, police said. A witness identified Graves from an array of photographs, police said.

The department will get 50 percent of the profits. Police keep lost, unclaimed items for about one year, though bulkier items, such as bicycles, are held for less time.
