Woman to appeal sentence in abuse case

MEDINA (AP) -- A woman who prosecutors say allowed her neighbor boyfriend to sexually molest a 7-year-old girl says she plans to appeal her conviction.
Medina County Common Pleas Judge James Kimbler on Friday sentenced JoAnn Walker, 41, of Brunswick, to four years in prison. A jury found her guilty of child endangering.
Walker said she didn't know about the abuse and said she was deceived by Robert Troutman, who promised to marry her.
She repeatedly shook her head Friday as prosecutors said she let Troutman molest the girl for three years. Walker said she didn't receive a fair trial and plans to appeal.
Troutman, 46, pleaded no contest to rape in August and is awaiting sentencing.
Cathy Kis, the victim's foster parent, told Kimbler that the girl finally feels safe enough to sleep at night.
