FIFTY YEARS AGO: Music played a big role in the Christmas season of 1955, and no pre-Christmas concert was more grand than that of the Youngstown Community Chorus and members of the Youngstown Philharmonic Orchestra at St. John's Episcopal Church. John Krueger directed the chorus and an orchestra of oboe, trumpets and strings. St. John''s organist, Frank E. Fuller, and Arthur Birkby of the music department of Westminster College played the church's fine four-manual Skinner organ. Soloists were Samuel Means, John Huyck and Margaret Ihnat. Incidental solos were sung by Carol Trigg, Dorcas Hantula, Jean White and Eleanor LaVolpe.
