Shopping center permits menorah

PASADENA, Calif. (AP) -- Managers of a shopping center have decided to permit display of a 13-foot Hanukkah menorah, a day after announcing that religious symbols were not appropriate for the mall.
Managers at the Paseo Colorado shopping center said Wednesday that the menorah would not be permitted, but a 30-foot Christmas tree could remain because it was "holiday decor," not a religious symbol.
The decision prompted media attention, criticism from Christians and Jews, and talk of a boycott of the mall.
On Thursday, mall managers changed their minds and allowed the menorah display.
