BOYS BASKETBALL Maxwell leads Wilson in victory



He scored 32 points in the victory over Lisbon.
LISBON -- Justin Maxwell scored 32 points to lead the Wilson High boys basketball team to a 73-58 win over Lisbon on Friday.
William Johnson added 15 points while Keith Tubbs and Glenn Brown each had 10 points for the Redmen. Wilson led 44-26 after three quarters before the teams combined to score 61 points in the final eight minutes.
Marcus Judy had 29 points and Steve Tsilimos scored 10 more for the Blue Devils (2-4).
Canton McKinley 97,Boardman 41
BOARDMAN -- Raymar Morgan had 32 points and Ricky Jackson added 20 for McKinley, which took a 9-0 lead en route to its sixth win in seven games.
Morgan is verbally committed to Michigan State.
Boardman, averaging fewer than 10 turnovers per game, committed 18 turnovers in the first half against McKinley.
Jon Kocon and Nick Shirilla had eight points apiece for Boardman (4-3, 0-2 Federal League). Junior Erik Johnson grabbed nine rebounds for the Spartans.
North Canton Hoover 63, Fitch 49
NORTH CANTON -- Brian Shetzer tossed in 21 points and Hoover built a big lead in the first three quarters against Fitch.
Keane Boyd had 13 points and James Wallace 12 to lead the Falcons (1-5, 0-2).
Western Reserve 50, Leetonia 37
BERLIN CENTER -- Joe Petro scored 19 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead Western Reserve (5-1).
Justin Zatchok added seven assists for the Blue Devils, who never trailed.
John Williams had 12 points and Josh Selway had 11 points, three assists and five steals for the Bears.
Columbiana 37, Sebring 34
COLUMBIANA -- Joey Winters had 13 points and Morgan Hart 12 for Columbiana.
Hart had 13 rebounds and six blocks for the Clippers (2-4).
Sebring (0-3) was led by Jesse James with 18 points.
Newton Falls 65, Jefferson 51
JEFFERSON -- Senior guard Mike Pelyak had 18 points, junior swingman Matt Dillon scored 17 points and senior guard Joe Murphy added 15 points for the Tigers (1-3).
Newton Falls benefited from 12 3-point goals.
Jim Savel's 14 points paced Jefferson
Canton South 51, West Branch 46
CANTON -- Canton South broke open a one-point game early in the final quarter and pulled past West Branch in a Northeastern Buckeye Conference game.
Kyle Rockwell led the Warriors (3-2) with 17 points and eight rebounds, while Andy Pappas added 12 and Shane Young hit for 10.
Kennedy Catholic 53,Sharpsville 40
SHARPSVILLE -- Kennedy made 14 of 29 goals in the second half and finished 21 of 46. The Eagles are 3-0 in D-10 Section 1 and 5-2 after starting the season with consecutive losses to Hopewell and Franklin.
Six-five junior forward Blair Rozenblad had a season-high 25 points, including 7 of 7 at the line. David Jackson, a 6-6 senior verbally committed to Penn State, scored 14 points.
Of Kennedy's 40 rebounds, Rozenblad grabbed 17 and Jackson 14.
Shenango 72, Farrell 65
SHENANGO -- Steve McNees, a 6-2 senior point guard, had a school-record 55 points as Shenango (7-2, 3-0) won the WPIAL Section 2, Class AA game.
McNees, who already signed a national letter of intent to attend Duquesne, made 17 of 25 goals and 19 of 26 free throws.
McNees topped the previous record of 49, set by Ryan Delaney during the 1996-97 season. McNees also had 10 rebounds and three assists.
McNees, who was averaging 28 points per game, had 10 points in the first quarter, 14 in the second and third and 17 in the fourth.
Luke O'Hara, a 6-2 junior, added 10 points for Shenango.
Bobby Wright's 24 points paced Farrell.
