Springers observe 50th anniversary during a cruise



XEAST PALESTINE -- Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Springer, 395 W. Martin St., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Nov. 25 to Dec. 2 during a cruise to the western Caribbean with their family.
The former Martha Jean Jones and Mr. Springer were united in marriage Dec. 23, 1955, at East Palestine Church of the Nazarene, where they are members.
The couple have three children, Fred Springer Jr., Mike Springer and Ann Phillips, all of East Palestine. Completing the family are 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Prior to her marriage Mrs. Springer was employed at Heck's Restaurant in Columbiana and W.S. George Pottery.
Mr. Springer served four years with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He retired in 1996 after 41 years of service with Cummins Diesel in Columbiana and Hubbard.
For the past several years the Springers have worked at the Shaker Woods Festival in Columbiana.
