BOARDMAN -- Two lawyers open a bar. Neither drinks.
There's no punch line.
Drunken Jacks' Saloon, 1714 Boardman-Poland Road, celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday afternoon.
The owners, Jack Ausnehmer and Jack Vaughn, have been law partners for about 15 years. Ausnehmer is an assistant prosecutor for Mahoning County, assigned to Boardman court.
The bar's name proves ironic, however, as Vaughn said neither of the men drink.
"We're not planning on giving up day jobs," Vaughn said. "It's just something different. Something to take our minds off the stress of practice. We're just having fun."
Drunken Jacks' Saloon will be open Monday through Friday at 5 p.m. and at noon on Saturday. In a press release, Ausnehmer said the bar is not a theme bar and is family-run.
Vaughn said there will be talent several nights a week, including DJs and local bands. He said they have scheduled entertainment until the summer.
Drunken Jacks' Saloon is strictly for those in the community who are at least 21 years old. Management said that everyone who looks under 35 will be carded and there will be someone carding at the door on busier nights.
They will hold a college football night Jan. 2, featuring Ohio State vs. Notre Dame in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl.
