JUDGE'S RULING HIGHLIGHTS

Highlights of the ruling Thursday by Huron County Juvenile Judge Timothy Cardwell, who said some of the Gravelle family's 11 special-needs adopted children were abused:
On special-needs adoptions: "Our county, state and nation all desperately need loving, caring adoptive homes for children who have been removed from abusive and neglectful environments."
On the family situation: "Over time many factors contributed to the Gravelles becoming overwhelmed by the daunting challenge of raising the growing number of at-risk, special needs and/or developmentally delayed children in their household."
On how the Gravelles handled the situation: "In this overwhelmed state, the Gravelles made a series of poor parental decisions that were detrimental to the children."
