Tondo ties career-high with 31 as McDonald routs Southington



SOUTHINGTON -- Senior point guard Ashleigh Tondo tied a career-high with 31 points as McDonald High girls basketball team stayed undefeated with 67-32 win over Southington.
Senior Ashshena Stephens added 10 points for the Blue Devils (7-0), who bolted out to a 20-2 lead after the first quarter. McDonald outshot Southington from the field, 25-10, but the Blue Devils also converted 14 of 21 free throws to Southington's 6 of 13.
Kala Grady's 10 points led Southington.
North Canton 72,Fitch 26
AUSTINTOWN -- Brittany Orban scored 17 points to lead four Vikings in double figures in a Federal League game.
Steph Gibson (13 points), Jessica Carpenter (12) and Amber Witt (10) also played well for Hoover, which took a 39-8 halftime lead.
Rachel Rouan led Fitch (4-4, 0-2) with six points.
Lakeview 73,Poland 45
POLAND -- Fastbreak layups off of rebounds and an abundance of free throws enabled Lakeview to get the upper hand on Poland.
Chelsea Butler had 17 points, Jen Baker 14 and Alynn Martin 10 for the Bulldogs, whose 33-26 halftime lead grew to 13 points at the end of the third quarter.
Lakeview also cashed in at the foul line by sinking 20 of 28.
Senior guard Jessica Toth had 10 points for Poland (2-6).
Mathews 69,Bristol 31
VIENNA -- Lauren Roscoe scored 17 of her career-high 25 points in the second quarter as Mathews pulled away in a Northeastern Athletic Conference game.
Sarah King added 14 points for the Mustangs (5-2, 2-0), who outscored Bristol 25-10 in the second quarter.
