MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Rodney Carney scored a career-high 37 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead No. 4 Memphis to a 76-58 victory over Louisiana Tech on Tuesday night.
Carney, a senior forward, was 14-of-25 from the field, including 5-of-10 from 3-point range, as the Tigers (9-1) won their sixth straight since losing to No. 1 Duke in the finals of the Preseason NIT.
Freshman forward Shawne Williams added 17 points for the Tigers.
Paul Millsap led Louisiana Tech (6-5) with 27 points and 12 rebounds.
No. 11 Louisville 76 Middle Tennessee 68
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Brandon Jenkins scored a career-high 20 points and David Padgett added 18 for the Cardinals in the first round of the Billy Minardi Classic.
The Cardinals (7-1) improved to 7-0 in the 4-year history of their tournament. Jenkins hit a 3-pointer that put them ahead 69-63 with 3 minutes to go.
Adam Vogelsburg led five Middle Tennessee players in double figures with 14 points.
The Blue Raiders (5-3) played the last 16 minutes without coach Kermit Davis, who was ejected after receiving two technical fouls.
No. 25 Iowa 65, Drake 60
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Adam Haluska hit two 3-pointers in the final 1:37 and the Hawkeyes beat the Bulldogs for the 27th straight time.
Greg Brunner had 17 points and 12 rebounds for Iowa (9-3), which improved to 11-0 against Drake at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
The in-state rival Bulldogs (6-4) haven't beaten Iowa in Iowa City since 1967.
Haluska, who scored 11 points, gave the Hawkeyes a 60-58 lead on a 3-pointer from the right corner with 1:37 left. Aliou Keita, who had 15 points for Drake, tied the game at 60, but Haluska hit a 3 from the left corner to put the Hawkeyes ahead for good.
