Member recognized for service to district

NEW MIDDLETOWN -- The Springfield Local Board of Education recognized board member Don Williams on Tuesday for his service to the school district.
Williams, whose term expires at the end of the month, has served on the board for eight years. He did not seek re-election in November.
In other matters, the school board scheduled its annual reorganization meeting for 7 p.m. Jan. 10 at the intermediate school auditorium. The reorganization meeting will be combined with the board's caucus and regular monthly meeting.
The school board plans to select new officers and set the times and dates for its monthly meetings for the remainder of the year.
