CSB applies for grant for job services

WARREN -- The Trumbull County Children Services Board hopes grant funds it has applied for will allow the agency to help families with job-related problems.
The grant would bring in $233,000 the first year and allow the agency to help provide such services as literacy training, job readiness and drug counseling, said Robert Kubiak, executive director of the Trumbull County Children Services Agency.
Board members approved submitting the grant application at their regular monthly meeting Tuesday at CSB offices.
Though job services is a departure from the agency's normal activities in working with children and families, job issues "tend to lead to other problems in the family such as discord and split-ups," he said.
Kubiak noted that the agency could know as soon as January whether it has been approved. The total amount of the grant would be for $350,000 over 18 months.
In other business, Kubiak said CSB received $3,700 from workers at Delphi Packard for purchase of Christmas presents for area children. He added that workers also gave toys.
