No. 2 Duke 110, Ball State 24
DURHAM, N.C. -- Allison Bales and Monique Currie each scored 18 points to lead No. 2 Duke to the largest margin of victory in school history with an 86-point rout of Ball State on Monday night. The Blue Devils (8-0) also held Ball State to the fewest points ever by a Duke women's opponent. Bales added 18 rebounds and seven blocks for Duke, which scored the first 23 points of the game. Ball State (6-3) missed its first 16 shots and its last 11. The Cardinals made just 9 of 71 (13 percent) from the field. The Blue Devils, whose previous biggest rout was an 82-point victory over Elon on Nov. 21, 2003, are off to their best start since the 2002-03 season when they won their first 20 games.
No. 8 Connecticut 81, Holy Cross 54
HARTFORD, Conn. -- Mel Thomas tied her career-high with 23 points and Barbara Turner had 10 rebounds to lead Connecticut over Holy Cross. The eighth-ranked Huskies (8-1) dominated inside and won their 13th straight game against the Crusaders. Thomas hit 5-of-12 3-pointers and made a career-high nine field goals. Ann Strother added 16 points and had seven assists for UConn. Kaitlin Foley led Holy Cross (3-6) with 12 points and six rebounds.
No. 12 Arizona State 78, Texas-San Antonio 64
TEMPE, Ariz. -- Emily Westerberg had 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead No. 12 Arizona State past Texas-San Antonio. Kristen Kovesdy also scored 17 points for the Sun Devils (9-1), who won their sixth straight game. Jill Noe added 12 points. Vivian Ewalefo had 16 points and a season-high 10 rebounds to lead the Roadrunners (5-4). Nicole Dunson added 10 for Texas-San Antonio, which played for the first time since beating Davidson on Dec. 3.
No. 25 Temple 69, No. 15 Georgia 66, OT
PHILADELPHIA -- Jennifer Owens hit a 3-pointer with 1.6 seconds left in overtime to lead No. 25 Temple to a victory over No. 15 Georgia. Candice Dupree led Temple (7-2) with 17 points and nine rebounds. Tasha Humphrey had a game-high 28 points and 16 rebounds for Georgia (7-3), which saw its five-game winning streak snapped. The game was tied at 66 in the final seconds and appeared headed for a second overtime, but Owens hit a 3-pointer and was fouled. She missed the free throw and Georgia's desperation heave went out of bounds.
No. 21 Purdue 70, Centenary 48
STARKVILLE, Miss. -- Erin Lawless scored 16 of her 18 points in the first half to help No. 21 Purdue beat Centenary. The Boilermakers (7-2) led by 10 at halftime, then opened the second half with a 13-2 run to break the game open and win their third straight. Purdue played tough defense, holding Centenary to 31 percent shooting and forcing 21 turnovers. Van'esha Brabson had 15 points and Holli Wilkins added 14 for Centenary (1-8), which has lost six straight.
