Marc Dann receives UAW endorsement

The United Auto Workers Community Action Program Council in Ohio is endorsing state Sen. Marc Dann of Liberty in his bid to become the state's attorney general.
The council, which has about 175,000 members and retirees, supports Dann, one of two announced Democrats seeking the attorney general seat next year. The other Democrat is Subodh Chandra, a former Cleveland law director and assistant federal prosecutor. State Sen. Timothy J. Grendell of Chesterland is the only announced Republican candidate for attorney general.
The UAW council also endorsed Capri Cafaro of Hubbard for the 13th Congressional District seat. Cafaro is interested in the position, but hasn't announced her candidacy for the position. The district includes parts of Summit, Cuyahoga and Lorain counties.
Cafaro unsuccessfully ran last year for the 14th Congressional District seat, and is a declared candidate with the Federal Election Commission for that seat in 2006.
U.S. Rep. Sherrod Brown, an Avon Democrat, is vacating the 13th District seat to run for U.S. Senate. Although Brown is a longtime advocate for organized labor, the UAW council endorsed Paul Hackett, a suburban Cincinnati Democrat, who is also seeking the U.S. Senate seat next year.
