Hearing set for Boardman woman in arson

BOARDMAN -- A woman accused of aggravated arson in an explosion and blaze at her township home will return to court next month.
A pretrial hearing is set for 5:30 p.m. Jan. 26 before Judge Joseph M. Houser of Mahoning County Area Court here for Sharon Padilla, 43, of Rosehedge Drive, Poland, formerly of Clifton Drive, Boardman.
The Ohio State Fire Marshal's office issued a warrant last week for Padilla's arrest, charging her with the fire that destroyed the Clifton home last August.
She turned herself in last week, two days after the warrant was issued, posted bond and was released.
Firefighters were called to the two-story Clifton home early on the morning of Aug. 27 to find the first floor engulfed.
Padilla was found in the bed of a pickup truck that was parked in the driveway. She spent several weeks in the burn unit of Akron Children's Hospital.
The force of the blast pushed out a wall and blew a side door from the house into the driveway.
